Launceston is a delightful small city, especially for lovers of 19th century architecture....it contains more original 19th century buildings in one locale than anywhere else in Australia and is a real delight for the old house enthusiast. Patersonia Cottage is one such building, however whilst a number of original features have been retained, it has been renovated to meet current demands. So goodbye dinky old bathroom, hello underfloor heating and light and bright interiors. It is a perfect blend of old meets new.
Why Patersonia? Little did one know, but Patersonia was the initial name of the settlement of Launceston, named after Lt Cnl William Paterson, however he later changed the name to Launceston in honour of the New South Wales Governor Captain Philip Gidley King, who was born in Launceston, Cornwall.
